The project aims to rebuild the non-consolidated relation between the city of Piacenza and the river, integrating borders and residual spaces generated by infrastructures. The modality of connections that opens the city to the river is thought trough the individuation of focal points.
This offers multi-scalar solutions and creates a series of solutions improving the existing system of fluxes that belongs to the wider
system of the territory-city. This infrastructural space in-between has been divided in 5 smaller areas of intervention, which are dealing with the existing but divided fluxes, generating a system of interaction between the landscape and the ‘cut off islands’ precluding any kind of activity in the ‘fluvial border’ of Piacenza. The program content aims to improve the green landscape with minimal interventions from one side, strong elements on the other, in order to pull together all the mentioned fluxes through a sequence of spaces disposed on different layers. The different spots of interference take also into account the differences in heights and all the slopes of the ground.
The master plan -a strong interrelation of open-air public spaces melts with a strong program based on the thematic development of the single areas. Through a system of segments and sequences we built the interaction of the different limits cutting the natural and entropic landscape letting them become a space of gap.
‘Fluvial flux’ is an open system and it is voluntary far from each prefigured strong and constraining form, intended as a structure either as a shape. It’s preferred to talk about a common vision and strategic view that provides a reading of different urban conditions trying to extract the potentiality of each space organizing a strategy for the future development of the city.
